Native to tropical Asia, patchouli is an herbaceous perennial herb growing up to 1m (3ft). It has a hairy, sturdy stem with fragrant furry leaves and white flowers tinged with purple.
Extraction: steam distillation of the dried fermented leaves
Colour: amber or dark orange viscous liquid.
Aroma: distinct, rich, sweet, musky, earthy that improves with age.
